Founded in 1958, the International School of Milan is the oldest international school in the city. Today, it has almost 1000 students of 68 different nationalities with a staff complement of 130 teachers. Designed for student-user-friendliness, the IS Milan campus is notable for its innovative, sustainable and functional architecture. Not just a school, but the largest campus in Italy, and a place where there is a tangible sense of the international spirit we want to support.
“We train the hearts and minds of students from 2 to 18 years of age. Our stimulating, multicultural learning environment encourages free thought, cultivates self-confidence and promotes tolerance and moral integrity.”
Stephen Rogers, Headmaster
The modern campus, inaugurated in September 2013, is only a few kilometres from the centre of Milan, in the Municipality of Baranzate. Its comprehensive school bus services (including a door-to-door option) enables students to reach the school easily and safely every day from all over Milan.
The Early Years section takes students aged 2.5 to 5, in a structure that meets all their needs, from physical and emotional growth to learning, in a quiet and pleasant environment, avant-garde and eco-sustainable.
Students aged 3 to 11 learn through the Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate Organisation. This offers a rich, challenging and stimulating curriculum designed to generate an enthusiasm for learning and value it as a life-long process.
Children aged 11-16 follow the Middle Years Programme which offers an educational approach that embraces yet transcends traditional school subjects.
There are two distinct phases of High School, each lasting two full years. In Grades 10-11, students work towards completion of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP). Most of our students aim for the full IB Diploma, which is recognised by universities all over the world.
